The scenery & climbing were exhilarating and the interaction with local life, the cameleers, the women and the children were insightful. Spending days in the desert, sleeping under the stars was too much more than I imagined, not just on a physical level but on a more emotional level too. An experience that I will never forget. Extremely well organized and a great desert guide are the first things I would say about our Desert Safari. The landscapes were amazing with such variety that I did not expect. Camping was great with little comforts that made it not so rough as I had anticipated. An all round perfect insight into Desert Life. Shaun & Pauline More....
The whole trip was exceptional! Desert Guide is a great individual with a fresh human perspective and the crew were efficient and added to the enjoyment of the safari. The highlight for me were the evenings around the camp fire, listening to the folklore stories from the Bedouin with the clever inserts of further explanation from our guide. Definitely more than just a Cultural Holiday. Raymond, Tina & Karl More....
The History of Sinai, Egypt dates back to the Pharonic era of the Goddess of Hathor, the Sun gods of Ra & Sin their temple relics still in abundance, the turquoise mines of the from the bronze age, the route of the lost ones on the biblical Exodus are only a few of Sinai's historical glories. Culture History of Sinai Tour starts in Cairo and travels into the Sinai penninsula via the hot springs of Moses before heading off-road by 4x4 Jeep to discover this ancient land. Starting with Serabit el Khadem, renowned for it’s ancient Turquoise Mines dating back to the Bronze Age and also for the setting of the Temple of Hathor, “Sky Goddess”, this rugged rust coloured region, offers panoramic views of Gebel Serbal and el Tih plateau. Trekking by camel or on foot is the ultimate way of taking a step back in time and absorbing yourself in the historical culture. The Bedouin Sheikh of the area and his family, our partners in this region, are always ready to welcome you with a glass of Bedouin Tea. We explore the different regions of remote beauty, by 4x4 jeep and by camel, we cover the sites and routes said to be traversed by Moses, during the 40 days and 40 nights, areas of volcanic residue and sculpted limestone rock formations. Your days take on a rhythm of their own and end with spectacular sunsets and evenings spent around the campfire hearing stories of ancient folklore and of times gone by. True to form we end this historical trek at the shores of the Red Sea with time spent in Dahab, to enjoy the wonders of the underwater world.

The Nomadic camp means that the camp will be set up and dismantled each day as you we move Mattresses are provided to ensure your comfort and sleeping bags can also be arranged. A kitchen area is set adjacent to the camp, where freshly prepared meals will be cooked on an open fire. EMBAH is committed to the elements of responsible & sustainable tourism, and this tour boasts multiple benefits to the local community. While travelling in the Desert & Mountainous regions of Sinai, work opportunities and therefore income is distributed between multiple desert dwelling families. Wherever possible we purchase local produce, encourage souvenir purchase from the Bedouin women and use local homes for meals. The projects we support in this region are:
Nawamis Desert School | An initiative developed by a UK charity that was brought about to enable the Bedouin villagers to remain in their desert homes and maintain their traditional way of life and still have their children educated. It also provides a special meeting place where Bedouin tribes can gather and celebrate.
Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Gardens | a local initiative to preserve Rare medicinal plants unique to the region. Herbs gardens have been created on various plots in land throughout St Catherine’s and are also cultivated in greenhouses for preserving biodiversity, research and for sale.
